Welcome to the most fun you'll have working out! I know times are crazy, and if you're like me, you're really missing your workout routine, group ex classes and especially your fitness family. With gyms and exercise studios forced to close for a few months -- my studio, Wrightwood Fitness being one of them -- and the uncertainty of reopening hanging in the balance, taking care of ourselves and our families mentally, physically and spiritually has become a challenge as we learn to navigate our new, socially distant environment.
To help us reconnect with and support each other in our efforts to be strong and healthy in every way, I thought I'd give this online workout thing a go. On March 18, I flew by the seat of my pants and streamed a Facebook LIVE workout via the Wrightwood Fitness page, and although it was less than perfect, I received positive feedback and the request for more. The best part was that this experiment gave us the opportunity to reach out to and work out with people we haven't been able to see in a long time.
Turns out, this workout-at-home format is a huge hit! I love the convenience and freedom that comes with being able to stream a LIVE workout from anywhere, and you have the option to do classes live with me or do them at a time that better fits your schedule. My name is Michelle Basta Speers, and I've been teaching group exercise for more than 25 years. I am certified by the American Council on Exercise as a group fitness instructor and hold additional certifications in personal training, nutrition and health coaching from ACE, NSCA and ISSA. I also serve as an expert source for a variety of online and print fitness publications, and I have authored more than 300 health and fitness articles and columns over the past 20 years. Google me! I take your health and fitness goals seriously. I also take the responsibility of teaching safe and effective classes to heart, and I plan and design every workout with that in mind. Together, we'll work on strength, endurance, conditioning, mobility, balance and flexibility, with the focus of each day's workout different than the day before.
For every single class taught every single day, my goal is that you to complete the workout, feel challenged and walk away from your screen feeling accomplished and stronger than last week. I plan each class to meet the needs of all abilities and fitness levels, offering modifications to ensure each member of our group receives the best workout possible. Together, we'll hold each other accountable, nourish our minds and bodies and have some serious fun doing it!
